Lady GaGa's current 'Monster Ball' tour is reportedly making a significant loss, despite being completely sold out.

The jaunt, which kicked off in November and continues across North America until the end of the month, has allegedly already overspent by ($3.2m).

"The gigs are losing money hand over fist because they've spent a fortune on pricey costumes, technical equipment and elaborate set designs," a source told The Sun.

"She spent $800,000 on one stage alone. But Lady GaGa gets what Lady GaGa wants. Her wardrobe is huge and she wants to shock - and that costs serious money."

GaGa's spokesman admitted that he was not surprised by the cost of the tour, which comes to the UK in February.

"I can't comment on figures but it wouldn't be a surprise. GaGa puts everything into her live shows and she doesn't care about the financial side of things. I wouldn't want to be her accountant," he said.

GaGa was recently confirmed to perform at the Grammy Awards on January 31.
